Cynthia Douglas
One of our studio's first alums, Cynthia was First-Chair Virginia All State, left to major in clarinet at Oberlin where she studied with Larry McDonald until an accident threatened her eyesight if she continued to play clarinet. She now performs as a Celtic Harpist and has recorded over five CDs.

Glenn Dickson
Another member of our first graduating class, Glenn attended New England Conservatory where he obtained both Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Clarinet Performance. Glenn has produced and performed on more than 7 CDs with his klezmer group Shirim,and his children's album produced with Maurice Sendak received an award of "Best Children's Album".

Rolf Noyer-
Rolf left the studio to study at Harvard. Dr. Noyer is currently Professor of Linguistics at the University of Pennsylvania.

Michael Banks
Jon Noble and Garrick Zoeter constitute another "vintage" year in the studio.

Michael was the studio's first MTNA National Finalist, studied physics on the Full-Trustee Scholarship at University of Southern California. Dr. Banks is a physicist living in Great Falls, Virginia.


Jon Noble
Jon Noble left the studio to study at William and Mary and was the studio's second MTNA National Winner. Dr. Noble teaches Chinese Literature and Culture at Notre Dame University and is the University's "face" in China.

Garrick Zoeter
Garrick, the studio's first MTNA National Winner, got his Bachelor's degree from The Juilliard School where he studied with Nidick and his Masters Degree from Yale where he studied with David Schiffrin. Garrick's quartet of violin, clarinet, cello and piano won the Young Concert Artist auditions and is currently called Antares. Garrick has performed as soloist with the National Symphony Orchestra as the winner of the NSO Young Soloist Competition. Garrick is the clarinet professor at Shenandoah University and Conservatory.

Cameron Dahl
Cameron, a graduate of William and Mary, is a Minister of Music.

Juliana Evans Arnold
Juliana obtained her Bachelor's Degree from Virginia Commonwealth University where she studied with Dr. Charles West, and her Master of Music Degree from Cincinnati Conservatory where she studied with Ron DeKant. She is currently a first clarinetist in the United States Air Force Band.

Kristen Grattan Sheridan
Kristen was an MTNA Finalist and attended the University of Michigan on a large clarinet performance scholarship, where she received her Bachelor's degree as a student of Fred Ormand. Kristen was the winner of the University of Michigan concerto competition. She received a Master of Music degree from Manhattan School of Music where she studied with Ricardo Morales, then principal clarinet of The Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, currently principal clarinet of The Philadelphia Orchestra. Kristen teaches clarinet locally.

Lindsay Williams
Lindsay received her Bachelor of Music degree in clarinet performance from the Eastman School of Music where she studied with Peter Hadcock and John Manasse.

Wallis Williams
Wallis received her Bachelor's degree in clarinet performance from VCU where she studied with Charles West, and her Master of Music degree from Cincinnati Conservatory where she studied with Ron DeKant. Wallis is currently auditioning seeking an orchestral position.

Marietta Squire
Marietta attended West Point Military Academy, and was the starting goalie for the women's soccer team. She survived several tours in Iraq, and now is studying medicine.

Christopher You
Christopher attended the Cleveland Institute of Music where he studied with Frank Cohen, principal clarinet of the Cleveland Orchestra.

Kathleen Budney
Kathleen is a graduate of UNC, Chapel Hill, where she studied with Donald Oehler, and is studying and teaching in London, as a student of the London School of Music.

Christopher Grant
Christopher received his Bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan with a large clarinet performance scholarship as a student of Fred Ormand. Chris was the first MTNA double National Winner, winning both the Junior and Senior High School competitions. He is currently a member of the United States Marine Band, the President's Own.

Megan Kim
Megan is attending the Peabody Conservatory of Music where she studies with Steve Barta, principal clarinet Baltimore Symphony.

Won Kak Kim
Won Kak was awarded a large scholarship to attend the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, where he studied with Donald Oehler, where he double-majored in mathematics and music. He has been awarded a full tuition and living stipend scholarship to complete his Masters Degree at Florida State University where he studies with Frank Kowalsky. Won has been a featured soloist with the Washington Metropolitan Philharmonic, performing the Nielson Clarinet Concerto (from memory).

Christopher Whittemore
Christopher is a student of Donal Oehler at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

Eleanor Weigert
Eleanor has received a Bachelor of Music Degree in clarinet performance from the University of Michigan where she studied with Fred Ormond, and is currently attending university in Toronto where she studies with Valapenos, principal clarinet of the Montreal Symphony.

Eric Jacobs
Eric graduated with highest honors in the music department of VCU as a clarinet performance major under Charles West, and received a major scholarship for his Master's Degree at the Shepherd School of Music, Rice University.

Rebecca Stewart
Rebecca received her Bachelor's degree from VCU as a student of Charles West, and is a Virginia Band director.

Joseph Cackler
a recent graduate of Stanford University, was an MTNA national finalist.

Philip Kowalczyk
Philip Kowalczyk, an MTNA National Finalist, was accepted at Princeton after a personal phone call from the Princeton University Orchestra director, congratulating him on his "arts supplement" CD.

Alex Kulescza
Alex Kulescza left the studio for studies at Harvard in the field of artificial intelligence.

Amanda Leon-Guererro
Amanda Leon-Guererro , the studios first Doctor of Music Education, received her degree from Northwestern University. She has directed middle school bands in this area, and is currently on the faculty of Boston University.

Sarah Kim
